FOX Television Station's Software Development Engineer in TEST (SDET) plays a pivotal role in guaranteeing the top-notch quality of our product releases. Your primary responsibilities will involve enhancing and expanding automation test coverage across our Web, client apps, and backend services projects, ensuring efficient regression testing before each release. As a valuable member of our QA and Delivery team, you'll actively participate in a range of Software Quality Engineering tasks, encompassing bug reporting, tool development, workflow pipeline enhancements, and execution of regression cycles.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, maintain, and execute test plans and test cases against our various applications, on Desktop, Mobile and Connected TV (CTV) environments

  • Enhance and extend the existing test automation frameworks

  • Design and implement modular and reusable automated test scripts utilizing Object Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns such as Page Object Models (POM) and Data-Driven Testing

  • Conduct Automated Functional Regression Cycles to support production releases per sprint

  • Analyze daily test run logs on GitHub Actions, troubleshoot any script issues, and report newly discovered bugs

  • Occasionally execute manual testing (white box and black box)

  • Participate in day-to-day team activities as part of an Agile team

  • Take responsibility for monitoring product development and usage at all levels with an eye toward improving product quality

  • Research, develop and/or recommend tools to assist the QA Team and QA process

  • Other duties as deemed appropriate and necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Expertise in cross browser and cross platform testing

  • Expertise with hands-on scripting/coding experience in Javascript

  • Expertise with hands-on experience in any of the following Javascript testing frameworks: CypressJS, nightwatchJS, Puppeteer, or TestCafe

  • Experience in a second programming language, preferably Swift, Java, or Python

  • Experience in automated testing for Mobile and/or CTV platforms using XCUITest, Espresso, Appium, or Robot Framework

  • Experience testing and automating secure REST APIs

  • Experience with Git

  • Experience with CI tools, preferably GitHub Actions or Azure Pipelines

  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written

  • A self-starter, able to take initiative and work independently

  • Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and an aptitude for problem-solving

  • Effective communicator. Able to communicate needs and issues to varying types of audiences

DESIRED:

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB)
  • Polyglot programmer - you are passionate about learning and mastering different programming languages and test automation frameworks
  • Testing Enthusiast - you excel at uncovering system vulnerabilities and delivering reliable automated test scripts developed with coding best practices

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $130,000.00-160,000.00 annually for California. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
